About
Madeleine Aimée is a Toronto-based writer, director, animator, and multidisciplinary visual artist. Her first film was exhibited at the Art Gallery of Ontario when she was just thirteen years old, marking the beginning of a filmmaking practice that has continued to evolve ever since.
Drawing on a background in painting, photography, and traditional animation, Madeleine creates visually rich films that blend whimsy, melancholy, warmth, and wonder. Her work explores memory, folklore, transformation, and the beauty found in the uncanny.
Her experimental documentary Enfant Effrayé received international recognition, and she was selected by director Yael Staav as a shadow director on CBC’s One More Time. Alongside her independent filmmaking, Madeleine directs music videos and works across the Canadian film and television industry, bringing a multidisciplinary approach to visual storytelling.
